All Ears!’ PHILOSOPHY
All Ears!’ services are based in Auditory-Verbal (AV) principles, a family-centered approach designed to develop the listening and spoken language skills of children with hearing loss who have been appropriately fitted with hearing aids and/or cochlear implants, and whose parents have chosen a Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) outcome for their child. At the core of this approach are early diagnosis of hearing loss, state-of-the-art hearing technology, ongoing audiological and speech language assessment, and the guiding and coaching of parents to become the primary advocates and facilitators for their child’s goals. The aim of the AV approach is to maximize a child’s potential for listening and spoken language and transition them into inclusive mainstream education classrooms.
Our comprehensive programs are led by master’s degree level LSL teachers and therapists to ensure that families of young children with hearing loss have timely access to qualified professionals as they journey toward their child’s literacy and independence. The critical time-period for developing listening spoken language skills is birth to three years of age. Optimal spoken language outcomes are most likely achieved through weekly AV Therapy combined with LSL classroom instruction.

*Develop confidence in the parent-child relationship while teaching LSL skills as parents incorporate auditory-verbal strategies into everyday life.
*Strengthen parents’ advocacy skills as they become leaders of their child’s LSL team.
All Ears! SERVICES
PLAYGROUP: Birth to 18 months
Small groups of parent/child pairs are introduced to Auditory-Verbal principles by a LSL professional who guides and coaches them in ways to incorporate AV strategies into their daily lives. Parents share experiences with other families who are also beginning their hearing loss journey, as their children engage in joyful, language-rich and stimulating activities.
AUDITORY-VERBAL THERAPY (AVT): Ages birth to 18 years
AVT is critical for optimal spoken language outcomes and focuses on natural spoken language development. Ideally, therapy begins as soon as the child receives a diagnosis of hearing loss and within the critical time-period for typical language development, from birth to age three.
Parent-Infant-Program: AVT for ages birth to 2 years
This program is a free resource made available through the generosity of the Schoger Family Endowment. Parents and child meet each week with an All Ears! LSL professional for an hour of Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT).
LSL PRE-SCHOOL: Ages 18 months to pre-k 4 transition
All Ears! provides a language-rich, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children with hearing loss can learn and grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Our well-rounded curriculum meets Texas Infant, Toddler and Pre-kindergarten Learning Guidelines. Our faculty-student ratio of better than one to four provides an instructional program specifically designed to fit the unique abilities and learning style of each child.
FULL INCLUSION IN MAINSTREAM CLASSROOMS:
All Ears! students who are making appropriate progress in spoken language are immersed in the mainstream pre-school classes of our partner, Early Learning Program (ELP), located on the same campus. This full inclusion aiallows AE! students to learn alongside typical hearing peers at a minimum of one full day a week, depending on the child’s age. All Ears! staff attends along with the student, providing support as needed.
