Toast & Taste of Texas 2020 Update
All Ears Listening & Language Center is committed to the health, safety, and well-being of our students, staff, families, and our community. Due to the continuing threat of COVID-19 we must CANCEL our Toast & Taste of Texas 2020 Gala. Proceeds from Toast & Taste, our largest fundraiser, help pay for 60-70% of our annual budget, so we will soon launch an online campaign in an attempt to replace this important event.
Stay tuned for confirmation details within the next two weeks. We appreciate your support, and thank you for your understanding regarding this decision. We wish you health and safety through these difficult times, and look forward to celebrating with you soon.
In the meantime, All Ears! therapists and teachers continue their important work with our precious families. While social distancing is an inconvenience to many of us, it’s far more devastating to those in need. Our children can’t put their deafness on hold, waiting for the hearing world to re-open.
All Ears! Tele-services: With the closing of our campus, our exceptional staff swiftly adapted. Within one week, we converted to remote service delivery for our children, aged birth through six. We’re providing daily group instruction via remote classrooms, and individual auditory verbal therapy sessions to or our children, aged birth through six. We’re providing daily group instruction via remote classrooms, and individual auditory verbal therapy sessions to each child 1-2 times per week. For our youngest playgroup babies, we’re sending videotaped lessons to our moms and dads. When ready, they “Zoom” into our therapists for support and guidance. Our parents know the window for training their child’s brain is closing, and time is short. Ours is a mission of urgency.
Fall Registration: We’re successfully spreading awareness about spoken language outcomes. Our fall classroom registration represents a 50% increase in enrollment. 2-3 of every 1,000 babies are born deaf or hard of hearing. 95% of these babies are born to hearing parents, and 90% of these hearing parents choose the spoken language option for their child. COVID-19 hasn’t changed these stats.
