Up and Running and Growing!

It’s been an incredible 18 months at All Ears! Listening and Language Center.  We started early in 2014, with a plan and a burning passion to open a preschool for hearing impaired children, whose parents have chosen spoken language as their mode of communication.  Our goal was to integrate our kids with their normal hearing peers and to offer them and their families Auditory Verbal Therapy and services, all without financial burden.  We created a board, put staff in place and were on our way.

With generous financial support and mentorship from Be An Angel Fund,  and other private donations, both large and small, we opened our doors within the Early Learning Program at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church for the 2014-15 school year, serving six children. By the end of the school year we doubled that number. Because of our benevolent supporters, we were able to offer a fully attended summer camp for our kids, helping them to continue working on their listening and language skills. Summer also gave us a great opportunity to guide and coach the parents how to use auditory verbal principles with their children, utilizing the language rich environment of The Woodlands Children’s Museum. All families had a language goal on which to work and used different activities at the museum to reach that goal, while our staff went to coach them individually during the activity. It’s always rewarding to see that our coaching is bringing families closer by increasing the language and listening skills of the child and the understanding and involvement of the parent(s).

As we continue to improve our center’s infrastructure, we are excited to announce that All Ears! will open our doors this school year with more sessions available to accommodate more students, and we will increase our staff to meet the needs of those children. Our growth demonstrates the need in our community for our unique approach to teaching children with hearing loss. All Ears! is committed to our mission: Empower and support families of hearing impaired children as they learn, utilize and master spoken language.
